An off-duty Indiana State Trooper says an intoxicated man drove a lawnmower up his driveway and then used his 5-year-old son as a shield when local police arrived. Police say 22-year-old Samuel Wilson of Connersville, Indiana, drove his lawnmower onto ISP Trooper Scott McPheeters' driveway and asked McPheeters to give him a tow.

The Indiana Supreme Court is declining to take up an appeal by a Cambridge City man who wants his 76-year kidnapping sentence thrown out or reduced. The Richmond Palladium-Item reports that the 50-year-old man claims trial Judge Charles Todd Jr. allowed prejudicial evidence to be presented to the jury.
