Born December 12, 1960, in Richmond, to Jack and Barbara Austin, Denise was a life-long resident of Richmond. She was a 1979 graduate of Richmond High School. Denise went to beauty school and was a hairdresser for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and interior decorating. Denise loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She worried more about others before herself and she did not know a stranger. Denise was loved by all friends. Survivors include her fiance, Steven Kirtley of Richmond; children, Kevin (Lori) Johnson, Valerie (Bryan) Shaffer, and Kyle Varvel, all of Richmond; grandchildren, Madison, Gavin, Conner, Michael, Braxton, and Serenity; mother, Barbara Austin; sisters, Debbie (Bob) Willis of Cambridge City, Indiana, and Dar Smith of Richmond; sister-in-law, Debby Austin of Richmond; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Dale Austin. Visitation for Denise Kinsey will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Bell officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
